Poem: The Fish

In my opinion, I think the poem "The Fish" can be perceived in two different ways. In one way, you can view it as the relationship that forms between the fish and the fisherman; one can say that the fisherman saw the soul of the fish through it's eye; and felt remorse and guilt for capturing the fish. The fisherman became aware of the fact that the fish is not just a fish; it is another life; another soul. Another life being harmed from their hands. The second way you perceive is that the fish is a form of repressed feelings or thoughts of the fisherman; and those hooks are the repressed feelings still having a space in the corner of his/her mind. The fisherman embraced the feelings and thoughts; accepted them; and the pain it came with, however, they were finally able to let go of those tainted memories and time. The fish being let go of, it was those memories and that time being let gone of and a way of moving on for good.
